In Demon’s Souls, a touch of smart quality of life changes and gorgeous visuals go a long way in modernizing this tough PS3 classic. On one hand, spears like this are solid against armor-clad or hard-scaled foes, but for smarter enemies, it can be easily parried, so caution is a must. Demon’s Souls veterans would suggest the best thing to do is wield the Winged Spear in one hand and pair it with whatever shield feels best.

A lot of weapons can be obtained early on, more so if a player happens to have pre-ordered the game. Demon’s Souls is set in the cursed kingdom of Boletaria where a powerful demonic entity known as The Old One unleashes a deathly black fog that begins to engulf all of the land. A host of other demons and unholy creatures also appear, destroying the living and turning them into soulless monsters. The Penetrator Set is perhaps one of the most difficult armor sets to acquire in the game. If you want to don this armor set, you’ll have to solve the most intricate secret placed in the game by Bluepoint Games.

While going through the same sections repeatedly may sound tedious, Demon’s Souls’ high difficulty ensures that it never gets repetitive or boring. Players will learn from their mistakes each run and make a little more progress every time, which can be incredibly rewarding. Plus, it doesn’t hurt that the environments players have to continuously go through look absolutely stunning, with brilliant lighting effects, highly-detailed textures, and some truly jaw-dropping sights. Out of all the early PS5 games, Demon’s Souls is the one that looks the most “next-gen,” and by a considerable margin.

Like the Short Sword, the Broad Sword is another sword that falls a little short when it comes to length. Players need to get a little closer to get some hits in, but the damage is more than the Short Sword has to offer. Players will find that they can use the Broad Sword for almost any build as well.
